  • Our speaker on Wednesday will be Bradley C. Barnhorst, CFA of DeSales University, who will help us to understand "meme stocks," a new phenomenon in the world of securities.  Brad is the Chair of Finance Major/CFP Program Director and an Associate Professor of Business.  Wikipedia says that meme stocks see dramatic price increases, fueled mostly by people on social media (primarily Reddit, Twitter and Tik Tok). These stocks seldom have the company fundamentals that would justify their price rises and are often highly volatile. Sounds like a very interesting topic.  Be sure to join us.

  • Our monthly Happy Hour will take place this Thursday at the Twisted Olive at 5:30.

LAST WEEK
  • We learned much about our two new members, Robin Burk and Scott Peabody, through their classification talks. Burk spoke about her career in computer programming at the Pentagon, teaching at West Point, and literally writing the book on UNIX. Peabody highlighted many of the services of the Salvation Army including residential services for those suffering from addiction. Please extend a hearty welcome to them.

  • Our Club held its first quarterly lunch packing for Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering on Saturday from 1 to 3 PM at the Salvation Army's location on Pembroke Road in Bethlehem.  Special thanks to Maj Scott Peabody for arranging use of the facility and to Bill Rowe for organizing this project, plus picking up all the materials needed.  Thanks also to Deb Philpotts, who joined the work crew and took the picture below.  With such a good turnout, we got lunches assembled quickly.  They were to be distributed on Sunday.
