Join us via ZOOM for our Wednesday weekly meeting as we hear from Jim Holden about the 2022 U.S. Senior Open.
From running kitchens as a trained chef to managing corporate clients' needs at one of the world’s largest sporting events, Jim specializes in hospitality operations as a Marketing Account Executive at MSG Promotions. MSG Productions is the USGA’s exclusive marketing and management hospitality company for U.S. Open corporate hospitality, overseeing approximately 75,000 square feet of hospitality facilities and more than 200 clients on an annual basis. Jim works in concert with the USGA operations staff to help manage all vendors that have an integral role in the fulfillment of the corporate hospitality program, including tent, air conditioning, landscape, catering, décor, cleaning, signage and telecommunications. He also manages a staff of approximately 20 interns that are integral to the success of each client experience.
In addition to his operational role, Jim is part of the sales team that generates market research to identify and mine prospects for every market that hosts the U.S. Open. As the U.S. Open’s exclusive sales and marketing company, MSG Promotions staff annually sells an average of $13 million in corporate hospitality.
Jim is also a trained chef who, prior to joining MSG Promotions, helped run highly regarded restaurants in Philadelphia. So this promises to be a most interesting view of this famous golfing event.

LAST WEEK:
Our speaker DeSales professor Brad Barnhorst told us the most interesting details about Meme Stocks whose value trajectories are strongly influenced by social media and can represent a real opportunity for those with the ability to balance risk and rewards that come in this fast-paced market segment.
Our fellow Rotarian, Tiffany Henning, Executive Director of the Greater Lehigh Valley YMCA's Bethlehem Branch reported the results of our Rotary District's second COVID grant of $1,164. This grant enabled her branch to extend its At-Risk adult feeding program through the middle of June. This program provided meals to At-Risk adults in the community as well as At-Risk, low income housing residents living at the Bethlehem Branch. Each meal provided included all the main nutrition groups, protein, grain, fruit and vegetable. Meals were provided at the Bethlehem Branch for the community and the Y delivered meals to its housing residents at the branch. Between May 3, 2021 and June 13, 2021, the branch was able to serve 905 total meals to at-risk adults and 30 individuals benefitting from the program during that time frame. This is an example of Rotary's Service Above Self motto in action with real beneficial impact in our own local community.
NEXT WEEK:
The Rotary Club of Bethlehem's Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (RAGAS) Committee meets August 2, 2021 (the first Monday of each month) at 7:00 PM
The global focus of this Rotary International action group is eliminating all forms and systems of human trafficking especially child trafficking, in some cases involving children as young as 4 years of age. It's an issue globally, but it's also an issue right here in the Lehigh Valley that has moved our local Rotary Club to take up the cause.
