Bethlehem Rotary Club offers local and international learning and leadership opportunities for rising 8th graders through High School seniors.  We partner with Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary Club on some of these initiatives.  Contact Diane Donaher, Youth Programs Coordinator, to learn more.
 
Long -Term International Exchange
Who: Students 15-19 years old from Lehigh Valley Schools
What: Local Rotary Clubs sponsor students to live abroad, and those clubs welcome a student from abroad.  Local Rotary Clubs will recruit families to host students in their homes for 3-10 months, and club members invite international students to holiday dinners, American experiences, family gatherings, etc. 
When:  School Year - student departs late summer, return early summer. Applications are available in mid-October and due December 1
Cost: The outbound students' families pay travel costs including flights, passports, required vaccinations, and spending money.  The host families cover food and other reasonable expenses for their international guest
 
 
Camp Neidig - Youth Leadership Camp
Who: Rising high school seniors
What: 3.5 day leadership experience
When: Overnight Camp is mid-June; applications due May 1
Where:  Camp Manatawny in Douglassville, PA
Cost: Zero for the student or school
 
STEM - Youth Explorer Academy (STEM-YEA)
Who: Rising 8th Graders
What: a 4-day, 3-night residential STEM experience for rising 8th graders who would not ordinarily have access to STEM enrichment activities, Curriculum is written by SETI Institute
When:  Mid-July
Where: Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA
Cost:  Zero to the student or school

Who:  HS Freshman through Seniors at Liberty HIgh School
What: School club that brings youth together to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self
When:  Year-round, but mostly during academic school year
Where:  In school club or zoom meetings
Cost:  TBD
 
 
The 4-Way Test Speech Contest
Who: HS Students grades 9-12 are eligible to participate
What: 5-7 minute speech about any topic, but relating to the Rotary International 4-Way Test
When:  First contest is at local clubs in March, winner advances to regional contest and that winner advance to final contest at the Rotary District Conference in April.
Where: Varies
Cost:  Zero to the student - cash prizes are given to winners
 
 
Artisan of the Month 
 
 Who:   Student from Bethlehem Area Vocation Technical School
 What: $100 scholarship for tools/education, selected by BAVTS Staff
 When:  Awarded monthly during school year
 Where:  Each month, a student attends our Rotary Meeting and speaks to the group about their education, career plans and service experience.
 
 
Walter A. Schrempel Scholarship 
Who:  HS senior whose parent(s) reside in the Bethlehem Area School District and who are enrolled, or in the process of enrolling, in a college that offers a curriculum in music.
What:  Student must complete an application, and qualified finalists will be selected for auditions.
Award::  $3,000 academic scholarship paid to the college or university.
(This scholarship is offered every other year)
 
 
2025 World Affairs Seminar - Peacebuilding
Who:  International HS Students ages 15-18
What: A weeklong seminar of international students interested in global issues.  Listen to experts, build leadership skills, collaborate with your
peers, and be one of the leaders who will help shape the world of tomorrow.   
When:  Mid-June
Where: Carroll University, Waukesha, WI
Cost: zero cost to student
