THIS WEEK -- It is likely that Wednesday may be the last time for a good while that we meet in person as Covid concerns grow in our area. I am comfortable with the location of our meeting this week at Seven Sirens Brewing in the Flat Iron Building. It is an enormous space where we can separate and it has very high ceilings. The facility offers plenty of off-street parking. If you are comfortable, please join us and be inspired by this week's speaker - Andres Morales, a Liberty HS graduate and Rutgers football star, who launched the LV Steel Rockets in 2016 and now inspires kids to do and be their best.

Please bring $16 in cash for lunch provided by FEAST, an upscale caterer. (You won't want to miss the cookies!)

NOTE:  Our Board of Directors and the Bethlehem Rotary Foundation Board of Directors will both meet, separately, following the general meeting.

LAST WEEK -- We enjoyed not one, but two presentations.
  • Curt Mosel, COO of ArtsQuest, took time out of his busy schedule to update us on MusikFest. The organization lost $19M last year when it pivoted to an online event. This year, it moved second stage performers to the main stages to allow for social distancing and has undertaken many other changes, including accepting credit cards at vendors, to increase patron safety.

  • Kathy Heller, a three-term president of the Nazareth club, shared her smalls club's long list of achievements and credited her parents for teaching her the value in community service. We thank Kathy for her willingness to partner with us on our successful district grant to increase our Tastes & Tunes proceeds.

OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE --

  • August 24th is the night provides to kids from the Boys and Girls Club an evening of Iron Pigs baseball at Coca Cola Park.  We still don't know exactly how many Rotarians can join the kids to help them enjoy the experience - this depends on the number of kids who'll be coming.  But if you're interested in helping out, please contact Gerry Long to let him know.  His email is longgolf@ptd.net.

I hope to see you on Wednesday,

Deb
