Thank you to all who were able to attend our weekly lunch meeting this week… attendance was robust again.  It is such great feeling to see so many faces from the podium!

Our program had such a unique twist this week.  Kate Racculia from the Bethlehem Area Public Library joined us to bring us up to date on the renovation project that will honor the late Bob Cohen.  As most of you know, Bob was always full of life, and it is hard to imagine that he is no longer with us.  Fortunately, his legacy will live on in a way that was so important to him.  It was exciting to hear Kate tell us about the progress they are making and the work that remains to bring the project to life…. Both planning and fundraising…

So the twist…. At the end of the meeting, we announced to Kate that The Bethlehem Rotary Foundation had awarded a $2,000 grant to support this project!  The timing was perfect, and it came as a COMPLETE surprise to Kate!  It felt so good to be able to provide such a meaningful award to such a great project. .. and we were made aware, first hand, of how our award will make a difference!  Our hard work at Tastes and Tunes this year provided nearly $20,000 worth of grants just like this.  In the future, we will be hearing from more of the recipients of our awards… it is great for the beneficiary to tell their story, and it is great for us to see the impact we have.

We also heard from Northampton High School senior and BAVTS student, Emma Bindics.  Emma’s area of focus is commercial art and she shared with us her curricular and co-curricular stories.  Her hard work earned her the Artisan of the Month award for December, for which she will receive a $100 award from our club!  Congratulations Emma.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have made the first half of my term as President special.  We have done so much over the past six months, and I am excited to return after the holidays and maintain the momentum that we have!  Thank you ALL for your support in all areas of our club… we are stronger because of your commitment.

REMEMBER THAT WE WILL NOT HAVE A MEETING FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS…. WE WILL RESUME OUR WEEKLY MEETINGS ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9TH!
