  • This week Susie Deringer and Betsy Genthner, nurses from St. Lukes’s Visiting Nurse Association will present the PATH program and how it empowers parents through education and mentoring. As was previously announced, our Club is participating in a service project to collect items to assist and support this program including children’s coats and books. A complete list will be on our website and in a separate email with all the details. Liz Scofield and Cindy Glick are coordinating this project.
  • ATTENTION: A few volunteers are still needed to assist with the Dictionary Project. Please see the recent email blast that has all the details. Contact Tracy Bozik to sign up for this great opportunity to meet third graders as they receive their very own dictionary. tbozik@moravianacademy.org
  • Bethlehem Morning Star presents a “Salute to the Troops” in recognition of our armed services worldwide performed by the Allentown Band. Tickets are $10. Students $5. Sunday, November 9th at 3 p.m. at Northeast Middle School.
  • The Thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday, November 19 will feature Shane Burcaw, a motivational speaker that you will want to hear. We have extended an invitation to all area clubs, so plan to attend this special program and meet fellow Rotarians from around the Valley.
  • PLEASE NOTE: There is no meeting on November 26, 2014.
  • The HOLIDAY PARTY is Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Silver Creek Country Club. Cocktails at 6 and dinner at 7. $50/person. See Maria Nathans with questions.
  • The Rotoplast auction is here. Donations are needed to support this Districtwide event. See Gerry Long for details.
  • The ALS walk at Citizens Bank Park is fast approaching. If you want to get some exercise and support a great cause consider participating. Contact Gerry Long for details.
  • Last week Bryon Grigsby gave his classification talk. As President of Moravian College, we received a great inside view of the approach that Moravian, as a small liberal arts institution, is taking to attract and educate students. Thanks Bryon.
See you Wednesday.  Until then, Light up Rotary.

World Polio Day event a success

Thank you for making our World Polio Day Livestream event a success. More than 23,000 viewers in 24 countries tuned in to hear health officials give an update on the polio endgame and praise Rotary’s polio eradication achievements. Ironman competitor Minda Dentler delivered a powerful personal account of her life with polio, and reggae star Ziggy Marley dedicated a song during a prerecorded performance. If you missed the Livestream, you can still view it.
