At our meeting of May 30th, our program featured our own Bethlehem Rotarian, Hopeton Clennon, who spoke to us about his recent mission trip to the Holy Land. Hopeton is the Senior Pastor of Central Moravian Church of Bethlehem, and he and his wife Shelia, who is a teacher in the Bethlehem Area School District, lead a pilgrimage every other year to Israel and Palestine.
They led their first trip in 2006, and always schedule their trip in even numbered years. They plan for from 30 to 50 travelers to allow for a more intimate experience. The group spends eight days immersed in the history, culture and religion of the area. This includes touring, scripture reading and prayer. Although the program is sponsored by the Moravian Church, it is open to anyone.
