Wednesday’s speaker, Susan Haytmanek, presented what is in store at the Boutique at the Rink this year. Our thanks to Susan for sharing this important project which has raised a significant amount to combat cancer.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS: As of this message it doesn’t seem that we have any “new blood” willing to take an interest in Youth Exchange. To say the least, I am very disappointed in this situation. We have an obligation to do better than this. Please reconsider this important area of Rotary. We can help build a better world a little at a time. If you are interested in any area of Youth Exchange, please contact Pete Mickolay or myself as we need to expand the committee. Information is also on our website.

Paul Alexander contracted polio during a major U.S. outbreak of the disease in the late 1950s, and has lived in an iron lung since. It wasn’t until a business meeting with a club member in Texas last year that he learned about Rotary’s fight to eradicate the disease.
Eradicating polio from India took impressive coordination and commitment. Rotary members in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, drew on those qualities again in December, when they mobilized more than 40,000 people to create the world’s largest human national flag as a tribute to the polio eradication effort.
