On Wednesday Susan Koomar, Regional Community Relations Director of the Gift of Life Donor Program, The Region’s Organ and Tissue Transplant Network, provided an informative presentation on the importance of organ donation and transplantation and we heard first hand from her guest, a double lung transplant recipient, on his experience through this ultimate gift that saved his life.

BECOME A PAUL HARRIS FELLOW: Every Rotary Club plays a part in the sustainability of The Rotary Foundation as the funds contributed are critical to the ongoing efforts of Rotary around the world. I stated at the beginning of my term as President that it is vital that we demonstrate as a club our commitment through our financial support. We as Rotarians believe in the mission of Rotary and through our contributions we do our part to perpetuate projects in the areas of focus including providing clean water, preventing disease, maternal and child health care and peace resolution. Please consider becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. You can start with a gift of any amount and like many of your fellow members, make contributions consistently over time. If you have missed a few years, make this the time to re-engage and contribute. These dollars come back to our District and provide the funding for our grant projects. We are already committed to next year’s grant project, Community Bike Works, which you heard about a few months ago. MEMBERSHIP NEWS: We are currently holding at 108 members with monthly attendance in the 60% range, but as you may have noticed, we have not inducted any new members in some time. I am asking each of you to think….is there a prospective member that you know, at work or from a business or professional relationship that may have an interest in Rotary? If so, the opportunity is just around the corner. We are hosting a membership event on April 28th. We have tickets for a dugout suite at the Iron Pigs game at Coca Cola Park that night so you may bring a guest at no cost. There will be food and beverages too.
