Gail Evans and Gary Mauer gave an update on the Bethlehem Rotary Foundation. In addition to funding our legacy projects (dictionary project, strike out hunger, etc.), funds were used to provide over $13,000 in grants to area non-profits. We also had a lively discussion on the history and purpose of the Foundation which was started in 1994.
The Board met prior to our weekly meeting and approved the $1,000 gift to Second Harvest. We’re awaiting payment for our disaster response grant from the district for $1,500 to Greater Valley YMCA for a Children’s Food program, $500 to Truth for Women for support in relation to our RAGAS efforts and the transfer of the income in our Community Foundation Fund to ShelterBox.
Dave Erickson made an announcement about the formation of an inclusion committee focused on increasing membership of minority persons. Interested members can contact Dave or me.
The meeting was followed by a Tastes & Tunes committee meeting.
Next week Rotarian Lisa Jordan will present on the Young Playwrights’ Festival at Touchstone Theatre.
