Thank you to all who attended this week’s meeting where Gerry and Dee Dee Foran served as our speakers.

To open the meeting, Gerry provided an update on the good work being done by the 14 Rotarians serving on the Membership Committee.  Gerry Long and Gerry Foran, as co-chairs of the Membership Committee, are using innovative ways to improve the communications to prospective Rotarians.  Using more selective and targeted campaigns employing both social media and more traditional methods we hope to greatly improve the engagement with potential Rotarians.  We are thankful for the hard work of this committee and the leadership being provided by “the Gerrys”!!

Dee Dee provided an update on her involvement with RAGAS, or the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery.  Last year, Dee Dee attended the RI Convention in Atlanta and was moved by what she learned about the world of human trafficking.  Dee Dee already organized an event that was held at Moravian College to raise awareness, and she will host another event (a movie screening and discussion) at Moravian on January 11th.  Thank you, Dee Dee, for the work you are doing to keep in front of us what will very likely be the “next big thing” for RI.

Please remember that we are asking you to bring in a bottle of spirits to include in the Basket of Cheer that will be raffled at Tastes and Tunes.  Last year we raised more than $1,000 raffling the basket…. but we need to fill the basket!!!  Please bring in a bottle that you like (or one that you don’t!).

We continue to make good progress with our restaurant sponsorships for Tastes and Tunes; however, we need you help with silent auction items!  We need more than 100 additional silent auction items to make this component of our event a success.  Unique items generate the most interest (and bidding), but all donations are welcome!

Please be sure to come this week to hear Kimberly Hopkins and learn more about the Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
