For our lunch meeting this week we held our first “Business Meeting” of the year which provided me an opportunity to present my vision for the upcoming year.  For those of you who were not able to attend the meeting, I would like to follow 3 general themes throughout the year:

  1. Staying true to the strategic plan and three pillars of the plan:
    1. Strengthening our membership through growth and engagement
    2. Making a difference through financial commitment and service
    3. Raise awareness of Rotary in our community
  2. Focus on Rotary helping others
  3. Education

Focusing on these specific areas and creating successes, will help to enhance the vibrancy and visibility of our club!  I cannot wait!!

I also spoke briefly about some changes in the allocation of the proceeds from our signature fundraising event, Tastes & Tunes.  The new methodology will allow us to continue to provide substantive and meaningful financial support to a singular beneficiary, but it will also allow us to significantly increase the funding available for the Bethlehem Rotary Foundation to distribute each year.  In addition this will provide to opportunity to continue to fund many of our legacy projects AND grow the base value of the foundation through contributions to it!  In making this important change, it will allow all of the philanthropy of our club to be funded through the foundation, and not through the operating budget or additional “asks” throughout the year.

For your convenience, click HERE to download the presentation as a PDF file if you would like to review the slide deck that I covered during the meeting.  The presentation is also on the website at the top of the list of DOWNLOAD files on the home page.
