Hello fellow Rotarians! On our second week back at Moravian Village we had the pleasure of welcoming 2 juniors, Braiden Binder and Spencer Parker, who attend BAVTS and Northampton High School together. They are part of the automotive program at BAVTS. Last year they purchased a1970 Fiat Spider and completed an electric car conversion on it. They managed to complete this near total overhaul in 20 days! The car has a range of approximately 100 miles and “moves pretty fast” according to Spencer and Braiden.
They will be participating in a car show this Sunday September 17 at the Moore Twp Recreation Center.
Which brings us to our meeting on Wednesday the 20th. We will be taking a field trip to BAVTS to see the car in person and hear the young men talk more about their car. The presentation will begin at 12:30. A food truck will also be on hand for hand-carried food items. Please be sure to park in the BACK, where the garage doors are located for the automotive technology section of the school. It will be a great day.
DeeDee Foran made an announcement about the Purple Pinkie event that will be held on October 14. The Horsham Club is the sponsor and registration and donations are available on their website. If you plan to donate be sure to donate for the Bethlehem Rotary, which is a drop down option.
In closing this week please remember Tastes & Tunes! The event is October 22 at DeSales and we are still accepting sponsorships and auction items. All forms and ticket sales are live on our website. As our only fundraiser, this is our chance to “Create Hope in the World” and effect change in Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley.
