Well, our summer heat wave has arrived and our Taste & Tunes Committee is on fire launching the 2020 Dessert Edition last week. An online auction of dessert items October 4-18 will feature the delicious offerings of local bakeries, restaurants, and students. As our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year to support the Northeast Community Center pantry AND the Bethlehem Rotary Foundation.  I know we need 100% club participation. Please consider being a Taste & Tunes Sponsor (Al-link) or signing up you favorite baker or eatery to bake a tasty offering as a Taste & Tunes Baker (Al-link). Thank you to Jill Long and Deb Walter and the great committee members who brought this to fruition.

As "People of Action" the Bethlehem Rotary Club will help Northeast Community Center stock their pantry to provide needed food during this pandemic-the need is great in our community. I consider myself very fortunate to go to my favorite bakery this morning and get bread and treats, then over to my farm friends to stock up on fruits and vegetables. Many of our neighbors have to choose between paying rent or getting food. We are going to lend a "hand up" and get through these uncertain times.

Speaking of "People of Action", District 7430 is looking for Rotarians to share their Rotary Story in the the August District video newsletter like DG Janet did in last week's video message. The interview can be recorded by a family member and then be edited by the District. Please contact me for details.

District 7430 changeover is a week away on July 27 at 7pm on ZOOM. Learn about the many accomplishments of area clubs and Governor Herb will be presenting various awards. Without saying too much, one of our former members will be recognized for his achievements. I will be there and hope you can join me to give Bethlehem Rotary a big presence.

At last week's meeting, staff members from ArtsQuest's Programming team, Anne Sturm, (Senior Talent Buyer and Executive Director of the Levitt Pavilion) and Shayna Super (Performing Arts Specialist), gave us a preview of Virtual Musikfest 2020. This years event will feature 40 live streamed concerts, as well as comedy and film show, plus movie talks. And there will be 40 live broadcasts of our favorite "fest" bands. Missing the food of Musikfest? You are in luck as 10 fest favorite food vendors (like Aw Shucks corn) will be set up at SteelStacks during the virtual fest. Get your food, and go fest at your home! And they are supporting local artisans through an on-line marketplace to shop. Contests like Musikfest at Home and a virtual 5K run round out the offerings.

Anne and Shayna played short clips of their favorite bands performing at the 2020 fest. And they told us to stay tuned for possible live events in the near future. Considering the uncertainty of doing live events, Musikfest is doing their best to bring you the music, food, and excitement we love about the fest. Plan to go to Virtual Musikfest this year: July 31 - August 9. Visit www.musikfest.org for all of the details.

Please join us this week to hear District 7430 Rotaplast Co-chair, Darlene Scott from the Upper Perkiomen Rotary Club present a program of the September 2019 mission to Guatemala that helped over 100 children who had cleft lips or cleft palates. This is an amazing program that brings needed medical expertise to an impoverished area. Darlene will also give us details on the planned 2021 mission. Don't miss this inspiring program that shows the power of Rotary.

See you Wednesday!

Yours in Rotary service,

President Pete Mickolay
