At our meeting of June 6th, our club awarded a Paul Harris Fellow +2 pin to Lee Snyder with our thanks for his commitment to the programs of The Rotary Foundation.
Our speaker was Glenn Koehler (pronounced Kay-ler) who spoke to us about the South Side Film Festival (SSFF). Glenn is the Director of the Festival, which will celebrate its 15th Anniversary this year. The SSFF will take place from June 12th- June 16th. Each year the jury committee reviews over 300 films in order to select the films which will be shown. Only films which are independent, i.e., produced outside of a major film studio system, and distributed by independent entertainment companies are eligible to be considered.
The Festival also sponsors a Children’s Animation Workshop which provides free admission to students, parents, family and friends. SSFF has had several films go on to be nominated for, and win, Academy Awards. The Festival draws many independent filmmakers, as well as moviegoers each year, and has a significant economic impact on our community. There is an educational event planned by our Bethlehem Rotary Action Group Against Slavery. It is scheduled for June 26th at Moravian College. Registration is available on Eventbrite by clicking THIS LINK.
Past District Governor Gerry Long announced that this year’s Strike-Out-Hunger Event is planned for Tuesday August 16th. Our goal this year is for each Rotarian in our club to sponsor one ticket for a child.
Our annual Tastes & Tunes is scheduled for October 7th. This year’s event will be held at Moravian College in the new Health Sciences Building. Please save the date.

The winners of Rotary International's 2018 photo contest were selected from more than 1,100 entries. The images show Rotarians as people of action, working together to make our world better.
