Our program this week was the distribution of credits earned from the District Conference. Out club received a certain amount back for each member attending to be used towards hunger projects. The board decided to take this money, add a bit to it, and give a grant of $500 each to two worthy organizations, Trinity Soup Kitchen and New Bethany Ministries. The organizations gave us some updates on their programs and were presented with their checks. We know they’ll be able to leverage these dollars to feed the many hungry in our community.
Trinity Soup Kitchen Coordinator Rev. Elizabeth Miller; New Bethany Ministry's Director
Development & Communications, Sandra Bieber; and its Executive Director, Mark Rittle.
This week, Tim Mulligan from Communities in Schools will present on their programming.
We are in great need for Rotarians to serve as Sargent at Arms for the meetings. This involves coming a few minutes early and setting out or flags, and A/V. It’s not hard but it would make a big difference to your humble President. Please email me if you’re available for the next few meetings. Dee Dee Foran coordinates this as part of Service Teams as is currently away on a Rotary trip to Africa.
Tastes & Tunes is less than a month away! The event is shaping up and what we really need is attendees and sponsorships! This is how we make the money to give local grants and is in lieu of asking Rotarians for money at meetings so please consider a donation from your company, purchasing tickets, or just a gift if you’re unable to attend. We are in need of more bottles for the basket of cheer. Please bring them on Wednesday
We have Putt Putt coming up Thursday, Sept. 19 at Putt U on 309. Cost is $5 and arrive before 5:45.
Purple Pinky Race is Oct. 12. We have several runners signed up already and are looking for sponsors in addition to the club sponsorship to benefit Polio Plus.
Our monthly happy hour meeting is Sept. 26 at TAPS at 5:30. Come at 4:30 for the final Tastes & Tunes meeting before the event!
