THIS WEEK:
  • We return to regular weekly Club meetings on December 7 and 14. I invite us to come out in full attendance and welcome our keynote speaker this week, J. William Reynolds, Mayor of the City of Bethlehem.
  • Location - the NCC Fowler Family Southside Center, Room 523
  • Zoom for those who cannot attend https://www.bethlehem-pa.gov/Meet-Your-Government/The-Mayor/Biography
  • Please remember to donate new, unwrapped toys to the 2022 Toys for Tots campaign. We are collecting along with Liberty Interact students and Penn State Lehigh Valley Alumni Association. Bring your toys to the Bethlehem Rotary lunch meeting on Wed, Dec 7 at NCC Fowler or drop them off anytime before Dec 7 at Pete Mickolay’s store: Aykroyd Hardware at 743 N New Street in Bethlehem.  Please email Maria Dietrich with any questions: mdietrich87@gmail.com

LAST WEEK:
  • We offer sincere thanks to our Club Treasurer, Bill Rowe, for organizing a very successful Thanksgiving Dinner at Prime Steak House last Thursday. The event was well supported by Rotarians and partners. In addition, guests donated non-perishable food items to the Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering. Well done!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMNTS:
  • There are two vacancies on the board. We invite members of the Rotary Club of Bethlehem to nominate themselves or each other for the positions of Vice President and Secretary.
    • President Elect Bill Royer found it necessary to resign his position due to ongoing medical concerns. He is anticipating a complete recovery over time. The Board accepted his resignation with deep regret. The Board continues to benefit from his wisdom.
    • Vice President Lori Knerr graciously accepted the invitation of the Board to move into the position of President Elect. She will begin her year as President of our club on July 1, 2023. Please join me in expressing our appreciation for her commitment to our Club.
    • Secretary Robin Burk found it necessary to resign her position with immediate effect due to unexpected developments in her family. The Board accepted her resignation with deep regret. Filling this position brings with it a certain level of urgency. The good news is that we have skilled and experienced personnel ready to provide assistance and training.
  • Names of nominees should be submitted to Ham Malek or me for immediate consideration and action by the Board.
    • President Hopeton Clennon – call or text 484-635-0400
    • Nomination Committee Chair Ham Malek – call or text 610-346-6200 (Email: HM@YourAccessAbility.com)
  • Al Philpotts desires a “sabbatical” from his Rotary assignments. We offer our deepest appreciation to Al for his phenomenal work with all things technology over the past several years. Al embodies the personification of Rotary’s motto, “service above self.” Where do we go from here? For starters, we welcome a volunteer to take on the task of publishing this eBulletin each week and operating the Club’s website.

Yours in Rotary service,

President Hopeton Clennon
