Our October 25th meeting included a spirited presentation by Adam Lazarchak, the Executive Director of Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School.  As Adam shared with us all of the good work that is being done by BAVTS, it was a good reminder of the importance of our partnership with them.   Similar to colleges and universities, BAVTS is constantly monitoring the needs of our community and training our workforce accordingly.  A number of thoughtful questions after the presentation suggested we were interested and engaged in this presentation…. Thanks to Adam for that!
Although Hank Barnette had his lucky number drawn, he drew the unlucky 5 of Clubs…. So the 50/50 pot continues to GROW!!  There are 45 cards left, and the pot is up to $167!

As a reminder, there were a few announcements:
  • The RI Foundation has established 3 Donor Advised Funds for earthquake relief and hurricane relief. If you would like to help victims, you can donate to the victims of each specific disaster through the RI Foundation. You can make a donation at MyRotary.org by putting in the number of the specific disaster fund.  E-mail forangf@gmail.com if you need those numbers.
  • Ned Bolcar will be our speaker for our November 8th program. Ned was the captain of Notre Dame’s 1988 NCAA Championship Team. He played 3 seasons in the NFL, and resides in Phillipsburg.
  • Our Thanksgiving Celebration will be on November 15th at Moravian Village. Sign-In begins at 11:30, and the cost is $20 per person. Our speakers will be Eric Ruth and Meagan Grega, Co-Founders of the Kellyn Foundation. The topic will be healthy eating and healthy lifestyles for youth.
  • The Whitehall Area Rotary Club is sponsoring a Gourmet Shopping Tour in NYC on Saturday November 18th 2017. The bus departs from Whitehall High School at 9 a.m. and has scheduled an additional stop at Route 33 Park and Ride at 9:15. Cost is $70 per person, which includes services of a professional guide, driver gratuity, and maps for each neighborhood. Send me an e-mail if you would like more information.

Yours in Rotary service,

Help Rotary International launch its new 'People of Action' campaign

Rotary International has created a new global ad campaign called "People of Action." The campaign is based on research that revealed that while many people have heard of Rotary, few actually understand what Rotary clubs do. By downloading our materials in the Brand Center, members of Rotary Clubs can begin telling their club's stories in a consistent, compelling way. Click LEARN MORE below to see what we need to know.
