This week we welcomed back former Bethlehem Club (and current Bethlehem Morningstar) member Cheryl Baker, who spoke to us about her role as CEO of "Equi-Librium." Located in Bushkill Township just above Nazareth, Equi-Librium provides therapeutic horse-related activities for people with special needs. Cheryl told us how horses have a certain way of improving empathy, motor skills, and even communication skills in autistic and other special needs children and adults. She included a pitch for volunteers to help at the farm.
Prior to Cheryl's presentation, Jill Long reminded us that it is not too late to support the Phillies and Rotary in the "Strike Out Hunger" game on August 5th.To personalize the impact of the game on area youngsters, PP Ham Malek introduced two teens and a staff member from the Center for Independent Living (S2L) who spoke about attending last year's game. For both kids, it marked the first time they had seen a major league game live, and it gave them an experience they'll never forget. Looking Ahead:
Please mark your calendar to attend our annual meeting at Musikfest on Wednesday, August 12th. In addition to a great lunch and program, we will also have an opportunity to see the new Hoover Mason Trestle, the much talked-about new attraction at Steel Stacks that provides a real close up of the Blast Furnaces and other artifacts of the Bethlehem Steel era.
