Carol Andersen of Bloom brought us up-to-date on the exponential growth Bloom's services for sexually trafficked women since merging Bloom in Bangor with Truth for Women in Bethlehem and shared future plans to offer services in Allentown.
The remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped up to 8 inches of rain on parts of the Lehigh Valley. The Lehigh River rose at flood stage well above the walkways and lovely mulched beds of our Centennial Park. No harm done to the mural or the statue, but the walkways and mulch beds were covered with an inch of silt. Rocco Damato and Al Philopotts spent several hours together on Saturday to work the silt into the mulched beds and to remove the silt from the gravel pathways. There is still more to do. Please email Pete at aykroydhardware@verizon.net if you'd like to help out.

We conclude our three-part series on human trafficking with Alycha Boehm, MSW, LSW, Clinical Supervisor. Alycha will speak about the Valley Youth House's THRIVE Shelter Program. Valley Youth House is one of the beneficiaries of our district grant and Tastes & Tunes. The THRIVE Shelter Program provides housing, meals, clothes, and personal items for female-identifying trafficking survivors ages 14-21, and connects them with peer mentors, drug and alcohol treatment, psychiatric care, employment training, and medical/dental care. Alycha will be joined by Megan Sell of the Valley Youth House team.
