District Governor Doug Cook was the keynote at Wednesday's meeting.  He spoke to us about pride in membership, community service, the importance of the Foundation (and the Bethlehem Club's generosity), and the contributions of Rotary in eliminating polio around the world.  It was a message that energized the club and charged up the batteries, reinforcing the difference that our club makes in the community.  DG Doug congratulated our club as being one of the most vibrant in the District.  Prior to the luncheon meeting, he met with the officers and Board of Directors, echoing those same themes and offering suggestions on how the club can be even more responsive and dynamic.

Other News 

   We will continue to solicit donations for The Rotary Club of Middletown, California (District 5130) as they recover form the catastrophic wildfires that devastated Napa and Lake Counties.  Please bring financial contributions or gift cards to national chains like Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Target or others to Wednesday's meeting and pass them on to me.  I will send all contributions to PP George Hahalis in Middletown.

   We celebrated the success of Sunday's Tastes and Tunes with a rousing round of applause for the Committee and all the hard work they put in.  The event was again a showcase for the Bethlehem Rotary Club and our beneficiary, the Boys and Girls Club.  We'll let you know the financial results as soon as the final tally is done (it may be a few weeks).  Stay tuned.

   Please consider attending the Rotary Leadership  Institute on Saturday, November 7th in King of Prussia.  It's a great way to learn about how Rotary works form the ground up.  Please see me or check it out on the District 7430 website.

   Our program on October 14th should be a mesmerizing experience as well learn more about medical hypnosis from Tony Longobardi.  It should be both informative and fun.
