Hi everyone. Copy/paste got the better of me. Tomorrow's meeting is AUGUST 17th, not OCTOBER 17th as in the earlier bulletin
THIS WEEK:
See you at the National Museum of Industrial History! This Smithsonian Affiliate in our neighborhood (
www.nmih.org) will host our Rotary Club meeting this Wednesday,
AUGUST 17, at noon. The location is 602 East 2nd Street. There is ample parking across the street. The highlight of our meeting will be the Classification Talk by one of our newest Rotarians, Rose Cash.
Please note that lunch is BYOL (bring your own lunch and beverage).
LAST WEEK:
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Musikfest on August 10. We met under a large tent at SteelStacks and enjoyed a delightful buffet lunch. Kassie Hilgert, President and CEO of ArtsQuest, took time out during the busiest 10 days of her entire year to welcome our Club to her backyard. Later in our meeting, Jack Worsley welcomed several visitors from his dental practice from which he is retiring.

Jack also welcomed and introduced our guest speaker, Selena Lavonier, Executive Director of the ArtsQuest Foundation. Selena covered a wide range of topics in a most engaging manner.
Selena Lavonier - our MusikFest speaker!
Selena spoke of the 500 performances at Musikfest this year—all free except for those at the adjoining venue to where we were seated. She reminded us that ArtsQuest never shut down during the pandemic but pivoted to virtual programming while providing modified in-person programing as soon as possible. Selena highlighted the diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives of the organization, and spoke with pride of the installation of cable ramps at all venues ensuring better mobility for all guests. She also reminded us of the significant positive boost that MusikFest offers to our regional economy. She ended her presentation with updates on the 60-million-dollar capital campaign in four tiers: build the new cultural center (Banana Factory), return the Turn & Grind Shop, remodel the first floor of the ArtsQuest Center (completed), and increase endowment reserves.
