This week, we heard from our very own Mark Walter as he delivered to us his classification talk.  While many of us may have been aware of Mark’s professional prowess in the world of technology, policy and compliance, I am sure not many of us knew about Mark’s interest in scuba, rock climbing and pistol shooting.  The breadth of Mark’s professional and personal experiences were interesting to hear about and are further proof that Mark will weave beautifully into the fabric of our club!  Thank you Mark for a great presentation.

In that spirit, Mark will be serving as the “second in command” for all of our technology needs!  Mark will provide desperately needed bench strength in the management and support of our website and Clubrunner.  Thank you, Mark, for helping in this important part of our club.

In other Rotary business this week, Happy Bucks made a return after a short hiatus.  To those who shared their good news, thank you… we will try to keep this tradition going strong.  Our mini-meeting this week was extremely lightly attended (OK, it was just Paul Ricciardi and I).  I do know that summer months make this meeting a challenge; however, if you have not tried this meeting, I urge you to do so… it is a great way to relax and talk about the past month of Rotary.

You will see in the announcements that our DG Cindy Hornaman will be visiting us this week.  In addition to our lunch meeting, Cindy will be attending a Board meeting at 11:00AM.  Board members should make every attempt to attend this meeting.

Announcements:
  1. DG Cindy Hornaman will be joining our meeting on Wednesday, August 1stPlease make every effort to attend this meeting and support our District Governor.
  2. This week the price of lunch will increase to $13. No more reminders!
  3. Our meeting on August 8th will be held at Moravian College in the Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz Center for Health Sciences.  This building is located at the intersection of Main St. and Laurel St.  Parking lots A and B on Greenwich St. and Lots M, N and O on Locust St. will be available and no parking permits will be required.  This will be a great opportunity to see the new venue for Tastes and Tunes.  The cost of the lunch is $14 and must be paid in advance.  Please make payments to either the weekly Treasurer or Sylvia Doyle.
  4. Tastes & Tunes will be held on Sunday, October 7th in our new venue… The Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz Center for Health Sciences at Moravian College.  This is our largest fundraiser and we are looking to get EVERYONE involved in continuing the success of this great event!  Mark your calendars!

ROTARY FRIENDSHIP EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITY

Due to a cancellation we are able to add two people to participate in the outbound group to District 1030 in Northeast England.  Dates are Aug. 29 to September 10, 2018.

District 1030 is next to the border of Scotland and along the coast with Newcastle Upon Tyne the largest city in the district.  We'll have a chance to visit Hadrian's wall and castles as well as seaside towns.

If you like meeting new people as well as learning about new cultures plus able to travel within a short time frame email me directly : deeleng@gmail.com if you are interested or have any questions.

Travel expenses are paid by the participant although we are hosted in Rotarians home with some meals included.

Participants are also asked to have their club host when District 1030 comes in the spring of 2019.

At the moment tickets to Edinburgh airport which is 1 1/2 hours away by train is about $700 for economy and train tickets are about $30 one way.
