Happy New year. I hope you had time to spend with family and friends over the holiday and are re-energized to move forward in 2021 and continue to make a difference. Our Rotary "family" meeting on December 23rd was a great way to talk and reconnect with fellow Rotarians we see on Zoom but don't have time to talk to (consider our next Happy Hour Thursday at 5:30PM on January 21 where we can do that!). It was so much fun I forgot to play the 2 local holiday music videos! Let's hope as the vaccine becomes available, that we will be able to meet in person again sometime this year.

Congratulations and thank you to the following Bethlehem Rotarians who received their Paul Harris pins at the last meeting: Dick Matthews-PH +7, Hank Barnette-PH +6, and Chris Nelson-PH +5. Our program with Elias Thomas last November showed the impact a gift to The Rotary Foundation makes. Please consider a gift this year.

Next Monday January 11TH at 7PM is the LV Anti-Trafficking Week event "Not For Sale"-powerful stories and poetry of survival and resilience. Let's support our RAGAS committee, just go to our ClubRunner home page and register to receive the link hosted by our club secretary Lori Knerr.

District 7430 Training Tuesday is January 12TH at 7PM. The topic this month is International Service Part 1: The Basics. You will learn the basics of Rotary International Service, the current projects, AND how to start your own club project. Whether your are a new or veteran Rotarian this is a great way to gain knowledge on the International Service side of Rotary from the comfort of your home (not worrying if there will be a snow storm, etc.). Go to www.rotarydistrict7430.org to register for the Zoom meeting.

January is shaping up to be a busy month for Bethlehem Rotary and I cannot think of a better way to kick off our first meeting of 2021 than with our own fellow Rotarian, Kamran Afshar as our speaker.  Kamran will give us his annual Economic Outlook and offer us his expert insight on what effect Covid-19 has done to the worldwide economy.

What changes in supply chains happened in 2020? What changes lie ahead? Kamran will address these and many more questions. I will leave plenty of time for a Q&A session with him after his talk. Please have your questions ready!

Yours in Rotary service,

President Pete Mickolay
