Rotarians should have been very relaxed leaving Wednesday’s meeting. Certified Clinical Hypnotist Tony Longobardi from Phoenixville gave us all a stress relief session through the power of suggestion and took us on a mental journey to the “middle of nowhere.” He also told us about the benefits of hypnosis therapy in treating smoking cessation, weight issues and relieving phobias. In an age of “high tech,” it was a nice respite to learn about some ”high touch” ways to relax.
Other News
The Bethlehem Club is looking for a volunteer to serve as Club Parliamentarian. In the past, the role was occupied by past Club Presidents, but that hasn’t been the case for several years. Roger Whitely has been commendably serving as an “interim” parliamentarian, but it’s time to search for a more permanent volunteer. You don’t have to be an expert on Roberts’ Rules, but a familiarity with the bylaws and Rotary constitution would be a plus (and can be quickly learned).
We are also beginning the search for a Club Webmaster. Newer members (or veteran Rotarians) with technical proficiency, familiarity with software applications and social media, and a willingness to help are all that is needed.
Note to those attending “make up” meetings at other clubs: Please get your paperwork on make ups in as soon as possible after attending other sessions. It’s an ordeal to get them entered after two weeks time.
Jill Long is collecting cash contributions that will be converted into Kohl’s gift cards for PP George Hahalis and our fellow Rotarians in Napa County, California, who have been devastated by the wildfires in that part of the state. Please help us help them. Any amount will be deeply appreciated and will help.
Word has it that Bethlehem Rotarians came out on top at the District Golf Outing last week at Silver Creek. Our two foursomes finished first and second in scoring, and Jill Long (an aspiring pro, no doubt), won prizes for both the longest drive and closest to the pin. Well done, Teams and Jill.
For Meeting on October 21st
This week we’ll have a “Family of Rotary” style meeting. Chris Nelson will give her Classification Talk, we’ll recognize some Paul Harris Fellows, and we’ll have our October “Happy Bucks” session. Bring some good news to share.
Until our next meeting, continue to be a gift to the community.
