I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed time with those you love! I can’t believe it’s already December and Rotarians are in full swing helping out our community! Thank you to those who signed up to do bell ringing for the Salvation Army on Saturday. The dollars you raise greatly help the Army provide services to so many in need.
We had a very busy meeting this week! We began with the presentation of our Tastes & Tunes proceeds to Jodi Evans at the City of Bethlehem to help fund the roof repair at the Ice House. The event raised over $26,000 to help fund our club legacy projects as well at assist the beneficiary. We used some additional dollars to round up the beneficiary amount to $10,000 ensuring that repairs could begin right away on the roof. No more water pouring down from the floor above after a snowstorm! Stay tuned for a report from the Foundation grants committee on the local non-profits who will receive grants as a result of money raised from this event.

Our speaker this week was Sunil Kumar, a global UGRAD student from Pakistan. Sunil received a state department grant to study for a semester at NCC through a program designed to increase cultural understanding and peace. He shared that he was the first of his family and village to attend college and is studying Public Health. He shared with us about the history and beauty of Pakistan and the many differences between it and the US. He’s taken good advantage of his time here, traveling throughout the United States.

Next week our speaker will be Lori Boucher, Program Coordinator for the Center for International Education at NCC. Lori will speak about Open World Grant Program. We’ll also have two shadow students from BAVTS.
Unfortunately, our application for Diane Donaher as District Governor was not accepted, but Diane wanted to thank the club for all their support.
Have a wonderful week!
