This week we heard the classification talk from Michael Renneisen.  Mike is an entrepreneur who owns his own legal practice, Lehigh Immigration, located in Bethlehem.

Mike is originally from Bucks County.  After receiving his undergraduate degree in Political Science, he went on to Tulane where he not only earned his Juris Doctorate, but also met his future wife, Margaret.

Mike started as a trial lawyer working in northern Louisiana (Shreveport), and continued in that capacity while Margaret finished medical school.  Mike returned to Pennsylvania as Dr. Rennesein completes her residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network.  It was during this return “home” that Mike decided to start his own practice that specializes in immigration law.  Hearing about Mike’s journey was fascinating, and his talk gave us an extremely informative overview of the complexities of immigration law, particularly in the dynamic climate in which he now works.

Mike is also no stranger to community service.  In addition to sitting on the Board for the Literacy Center, Mike also operates a legal clinic at the Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley.

Mike and Margaret live in Allentown in close proximity to the Allentown Fairgrounds (as he said, a great place to live 51 weeks per year!).

As I mentioned at the meeting, it is exciting to have had two classification talks in two weeks, and very soon we will be inducting 3 new members!  New members create the vibrancy that makes our club special, and I am thrilled that we are moving in the right direction!

As a reminder, all of the forms for Tastes and Tunes have been posted to the website.  We will need all of your help to raise support for sponsorship, restaurant participation and silent auction donations.

Please be sure to come this week to hear Gerry and Dee Dee Foran talk about how we can advance the good work of Rotary AND improve our visibility in the community AND recruit new members!

What are you doing for World Polio Day?
Rotary and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) have had to take bold action in the historic fight against polio. At Rotary’s 6th annual World Polio Day event on 24 October in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, we’ll highlight the monumental and innovative steps that are getting us closer to our goal. We’ll also celebrate 30 years of achievements by the GPEI. Learn more about the event in Philadelphia and how you can promote your own event or find an event near you.
