Hello fellow Rotarians and Happy Monday!

This past week we had our regular First Wednesday of the Month evening meeting and had the largest attendance yet! We even needed to add some tables. I encourage everyone to attend and bring a guest to our next evening meeting. It is a fun night building better friendships with each other.

I would like to take a moment to thank Mark Walter and Diane Donaher for volunteering to transport our Camp Neidig students to and from camp. Also a reminder that we are looking for Rotarians to volunteer for our Youth Program committee for the upcoming year. Please reach out to either Dale Kochard or myself to express your interest or learn more about our youth programs.

Finally, I have another very important ask from all of you. As all of you know the Long’s have been a staple in our club…..they are always the first people to pitch in and help, offer to volunteer and give countless hours of their time. What you may not know is they have had a difficult 2024 so far, as Jill had knee surgery and Gerry had a few other health issues, including a bout with Covid.  Last week Gerry had 2 falls at home and was hospitalized.  He's being moved to a rehab center as soon as today and isn't expecting a long stay.  Notes sent to him would help lift his spirits.  Their home address is:  347 Carver Drive, Bethlehem PA 18017.  After surgery in March, Jill's knee is still acting up and sometimes she can't drive.  Knowing there could be 1 or 2 people she could call for transport help would be a godsend.  If you're willing to be on call, please let me know and provide a phone number.  As I am in contact with them I will keep everyone informed about other ways we can help them recover.

And when Jerry comes home from rehab I was thinking maybe we could do a food train for them….food items that can be frozen, and which I would be happy to coordinate between Rotary and the Long’s. I know how exhausting it is to be a caregiver and then to manage the rehab nightmare….and I’m about 30 years Jill’s junior and healthy.  If you're up for that idea please let me know by email, or in person at Wednesday's meeting.

Thank you all in advance for your help and I look forward to seeing you all Wednesday!  Our speaker, Sara Satullo will be addressing one of the topics that has been much in the news in the Lehigh Valley - the shortage of affordable housing.  Please plan to attend.  Guests are always welcome.  This promises to be an interesting presentation.

Yours in Rotary,
