Last Week:
President-Elect Bill Royer welcomed club members and guest Bill Eckert (who is awaiting final step club membership). Thanks to Past-President Pete Mickolay for the Invocation!
In a quick “change-up” due to our programmed speaker taking ill, Jim Geiger, introduced by his ‘boating crew’ Deb Geiger, provided a presentation on the Rotary Yacht Squadron of the Chesapeake Bay (RYSCB) to which they both belong. Jim raised awareness of Rotary Fellowships (over 70!) prior to discussing the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians (IYFR), the oldest & largest of all Rotary Fellowships. It began in England in 1947 and has grown to 126 fleets and over 3600 members in 44 countries. While Jim is a passionate boater & boat owner, membership in Rotary Yacht Fellowships does not require the member to have a boat—just an active interest!:
The Geigers and fellow Rotarian boaters!
Notes:
DG-Elect Diane Donaher attended the closing session of the STEM experience where the guest speaker, an astronaut, focused on astronomy. There are opportunities to host/sponsor students for $350/student. Thanks to the many club members who already plan to do so!There are many opportunities still awaiting our members for Rotary Service in this new Rotary Year. We cannot Imagine Rotary! without YOU!!!!
Sorry for the lateness of this bulletin. I (your weekly bulletin publisher, was flying in from Seattle to Newark and the flight was delayed a day due to thunderstorms.
Yours in Rotary service,
President Elect Bill Royer (for President Hopeton Clennon)
