Our guest this week was Dean Donaher, Bethlehem Area School District School Board Member. Dean is a long-time school board member and also represents the school district on the Northampton Community College Board of Trustees. Primary functions of the school board are hiring and managing the Superintendent and setting the budget. Dean shared that the budget process begins in September for the next year and takes several months to prepare before a budget is ready to be approved. Several meetings are open to the public. School board members are not paid and are nonpartisan.

We also welcomed two students from BAVTS who shared with us about their graphic design program.

This week is our big Thanksgiving meeting! Come at 11:30 am for fellowship. Our guests will be Karen Smith and Meg Dowd to share about the joys of volunteering. Please consider bringing a filled holiday home chest for a needy kid this holiday season. https://www.volunteerlv.org/holiday-hope-chests
We'll also have a special BAVTS student artisan with us!

Yours in Rotary service,

Artists unite to help The Bahamas

In August, Hurricane Dorian struck The Bahamas, causing catastrophic damage and loss of life, particularly to the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco. Singer and songwriter Julien Believe, a member of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, united with other artists to record a new version of his song, “I Believe in You.” Believe is working with local Rotarians and past RI President Barry Rassin to raise support for recovery efforts. Download his song and learn about ongoing Rotary recovery efforts.
