For those of you who were not able to join us this week for our meeting, we heard from Lori Knerr as she delivered her classification talk.  Lori has been a career banker and her latest assignment lands her in the heart of Bethlehem at Univest Bank and Trust at the intersection of Main St. and Broad St. where she serves as a Financial Services Manager.  Lori shared with us her varied experiences over her 28 year career in banking!

We also heard about the “non-banking” side of Lori, too!  Her two boys, Anthony and Gage, ages 23 and 20 respectively, clearly are such an important part of her life.  Anthony is currently serving in the Marine Corp and Gage is serving in the Army and is currently preparing to deploy for Afghanistan.  I would encourage you to catch up with Lori and find out the special way she plans to stay connected with her son while he is serving overseas! (bring a tissue!).  In addition, Lori’s passion for music connected her with her husband Dennis to whom she has been married for a year and a half.

You should know that while Lori is a relatively new Rotarian in terms of the membership records, she is no stranger to community service.  She has already made her presence felt and we look forward to having her energy and passion support the activities of our club!

On Thursday, Paul Ricciardi organized another mini-meeting at Taps Tavern on Rt. 378.  It gave several of us an opportunity to chat about all things Rotary in a relaxed atmosphere over an adult beverage and snacks.  Watch for our next mini-meeting on Thursday, September 27th.  We will remind you as we get closer and hope that more of you can join us….

As a reminder, all of the forms for Tastes and Tunes have been posted to the website.  We will need all of your help to raise support for sponsorship, restaurant participation and silent auction donations.

Please be sure to come this week to hear Michael Rennesein deliver his classification talk.

Rotary Weekly Update
After hours with Minneapolis Evenings

Twice a month, the Rotary Club of South Metro Minneapolis Evenings meets in a hotel near the Minnesota River. Young people trickle through the hotel’s front doors and gather at a long wooden table in the bar for happy hour. It’s not actually happy hour, but that’s what they call this casual gathering before their club meeting. It’s a nontraditional club, which has less to do with the average membership age of 33 than the fact they meet after work and tend toward activities like rock climbing, Whirly Ball, and escape rooms. For membership month, learn more about this innovative club.
