Our Meeting of October 18th was the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Centennial Park in Bethlehem. I want to thank all of the members who attended the ceremony, and also the BAVTS students who painted the mural and were on hand for the ceremony.

We first heard from Justin Daniels an 11th grader who is our Artisan the month. He was introduced by his teacher Sergio Rivas, and he spoke to us about his experience at BAVTS.

The ceremony was held outside after lunch, and after PP Mike McGovern gave us a rundown of the history of the project, Brennan Pursell, who chaired the committee, thanked everyone on the committee for their dedication and hard work, as well as the other members who financially supported the project. The project was made possible by a donation from Bethlehem Rotary, and a District Grant which was written by Deb Geiger. Special thanks go to Diane Donaher, Mike Dunn, Deb Geiger, Cindy Glick, Mike McGovern, Pete Mickolay, all of whom served on the committee and contributed hours of physical labor. Thanks also to PP Gail Evans who inspired the project (and contributed physical labor), and to Brennan Pursell for his leadership in bringing the whole effort to a successful conclusion.

Jane Persa, who spoke on behalf of mayor Donchez, congratulated our club on the project, and noted that our city is anxious to support us in helping to complete these types of projects.

Next week’s speaker will be Adam Lazarchak, Executive Director of the Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School.

Yours in Rotary service,

President Gerry Foran

Help Rotary International launch its new 'People of Action' campaign

Rotary International has created a new global ad campaign called "People of Action." The campaign is based on research that revealed that while many people have heard of Rotary, few actually understand what Rotary clubs do. By downloading our materials in the Brand Center, members of Rotary Clubs can begin telling their club's stories in a consistent, compelling way. Click LEARN MORE below to see what we need to know.
