THIS WEEK -- We will continue to focus on the issue of human trafficking as the CEO of one of our Tastes & Tunes beneficiaries joins us as our speaker. Carol Andersen is an advocate for women with an enthusiastic passion to share hope and empower marginalized women. She is the CEO of Bloom, a newly merged organization combining the former Truth for Women and Bloom Bangor programs. Its mission is to provide sanctuary and a continuum of care to heal, empower and employ women survivors of sex trafficking. Carol will share information about the merger and a recent expansion and opportunities to expand into Lehigh County with more long-term residential options for women survivors. THIS IS A VIRTUAL MEETING THROUGH ZOOM.
We thank Gerry and Jill Long for their work to continue Strike Out Hunger. They coordinated a fun night at the Iron Pigs for young members of the Boys & Girls Club. Click this LINK to view the photo album of the event on the website.
We thank Paul Ricciardi for continuing his work to bring us together socially and hosting another happy hour at Twisted Olive last Thursday.
We applaud Darlene Heller who has agreed to help our Board develop a new program, Board Walks, where club members can join a walk hosted a member of club's board. We will appreciate areas of Bethlehem from a pedestrian's view and gain insights from the city's planning director and others. This covid-compliant activity will be fun and educational.
LAST WEEK -- Amy O'Neill Richard of the U.S. State Department shared an international picture of human trafficking and how our federal government works to deter it. She shared her passion and her optimism as more countries work to reduce and prosecute human traffickers. She encouraged us to learn more by reading the department's annual report.
