THIS WEEK -- Once I took a little side road in my career that had consisted of writing and editing for newspapers and fundraising primarily for colleges. I worked in constituent relations for Senator Pat Toomey for nine months when he first became a U. S. Senator. I knew someone who knew Susan Zimskind, our speaker this week. It was an interesting nine months as I spoke with more than 1,000 PA residents with issues with our federal government and helped resolve at least a few of them. Many of the big issues, I took to Sue. She is Toomey's Deputy State Director, and she had served in a similar role for Toomey when he was a congressman. Sue has volunteered for the Jewish Day School of Allentown, the Allentown JCC Women's Auxiliary, and Temple Beth El. She is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal. Join us through Zoom for her presentation about constituent relations.
LAST WEEK -- We extend our thanks to Judy Sabino of LVHN for an excellent presentation about cultural bias and how we all might make judgements about people without thinking twice. We appreciate her work with our club and the work of Chris Nelson and Deb and Jim Geiger to help us focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
