Thank you to all of you who indulged me and sang along with My Country Tis Of Thee this week. It felt good to have an albeit small return to normal with a song. It was also a reminder of the men and women we honor today, who gave their lives in defense of our freedom. Our speaker this week shared with us how LVHN's Veteran Health Program is assisting veterans in our community. Alexander Alex is director of the program and served in the military over 30 years and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF. The program serves veterans and their families through a comprehensive assessment that extends past medical care. Since its inception 2017, the program has helped over 550 veterans and family members. Outreach is largely word of mouth and any veteran can contact the program for an assessment. It is Foundation funded and there is no cost for veterans. Rotarian Jim Geiger also helped answer questions about the program. Thank you both!
We had our first zoom inductions this week as we welcomed Tiffany Henning and Paul Leese to our club.
Our program this week will be a small business panel addressing some of the challenges area businesses face during the pandemic and how they're dealing. Panelists are: Jen Rodriguez (Simplicity Salon); Chef Steve Kershner(Twisted Olive); and President-elect Pete Mickolay (Aykroyd Hardware).
Our Rotary year is coming to an end. We're still a long way off from our Foundation goal. If you haven't made a gift to the Rotary International Foundation this year, there's still time! See https://www.rotary.org/en/about-rotary/rotary-foundation or contact Diane Donaher for more information.
