On Wednesday, Lynn Erickson, Executive Director of The DaVinci Science Center, presented to the membership an overview of the STEM initiative. Jobs in science, technology, engineering and math are proven to result in higher wages and better economies in the area communities. We thank Lynn for her informative presentation.

BECOME A PAUL HARRIS MEMBER NOW: Every Rotary Club plays a part in the sustainability of The Rotary Foundation as the funds contributed are critical to the ongoing efforts of Rotary around the world. I stated at the beginning of my term as President that it is vital that we demonstrate as a club our commitment through our financial support. We as Rotarians believe in the mission of Rotary and through our contributions we do our part to perpetuate projects in the areas of focus including providing clean water, preventing disease, maternal and child health care and peace resolution. Please consider becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. You can start with a gift of any amount and like many of your fellow members, make contributions consistently over time. If you have missed a few years, make this the time to re-engage and contribute. These dollars come back to our District and provide the funding for our grant projects. We are already committed to next year’s grant project, Community Bike Works, which you heard about a few months ago. This week marks 110 years since Paul P. Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram E. Shorey gathered in Loehr’s office in Room 711 of the Unity Building in downtown Chicago for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting. It also is 30 years since Rotary launched its campaign to rid the world of polio.
