Happy New Year!!

Please let me officially welcome you to the new 2018/19 Rotary year!  I am looking forward to an “inspirational” year as we strengthen our club and make a difference in the community we serve!

Last week we cancelled our meeting so that we could spend time with family and/or friends celebrating Independence Day.  I am hopeful that you had time to enjoy the spectacular weather to which we were treated this weekend!

Despite the break from the weekly meeting, there was still activity to report:

  • Diane Donaher and I attended the District Changeover meeting on June 28th at Brookside Country Club where we celebrated Cindy Hornaman taking the gavel for her year as District Governor for District 7430.
  • Paul Ricciardi hosted another successful mini-meeting on June 28th at Taps Tavern… these continue to serve as a great opportunity to meet in a casual environment and talk about the speakers over the last month.  Please try to join us at our next mini-meeting!
  • July 5th was a scheduled “clean up” day in the Centennial Park.  While I do not have an update to provide here, I am hopeful that Diane Donaher or Brennan Pursell can fill us in on Wednesday.

For this week, your “speaker” will be me!  Over the past year as PE, I have become invested in ways that I hope to make a difference, and I would like to take this opportunity to share my vision for the year with you.  I do hope that you are able to join us on Wednesday.

Lastly, let me take this opportunity to thank Past President Gerry Foran for his outstanding work leading our club this past year.  Gerry, your last newsletter beautifully summarized of all the wonderful accomplishments of the Bethlehem Rotary over this past year, and we are thankful for your leadership in getting this all done!

Announcements:

  1. Our next Board Meeting will be held this Wednesday, July 11th at 7:30AM in the Snyder Room of the Haupert Union Building at Moravian College.

  2. Tastes & Tunes will be held on Sunday, October 7th in our new venue… The Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz Center for Health Sciences at Moravian College.  This is our largest fundraiser and we are looking to get EVERYONE involved in continuing the success of this great event!  Mark your calendars!

Yours in Rotary service,

President Mark Reed
