Debra Geiger, a Bethlehem Rotary club member, was honored at the Emmaus Rotary Club's first International Women's Day celebration with an award from the Emmaus Rotary Club, plus a proclamation from the House of Representatives and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for her outstanding accomplishments.

Deb joined the Bethlehem Rotary Club in 2008.  She is a strong contributor to The Rotary Foundation and is a Paul Harris +3 member, as well as a Bequest Society member.
 
Since joining our club, Debbie has been an active member.  Except for vacations, Debbie has a 100% attendance record.  Debbie served on our Club Board of Directors and as our club Secretary for 3 years, from 2013 to 2016.  She was Program Chair in 2016-17 and is currently Program Co-Chair for this 2017-18 year.  Debbie also serves on our Club’s District Designated Funds Grant Committee and has been the Committee’s Grant Writer since 2012.
 
Debbie has been one of the key committee members on our Club’s “Taste and Tunes” Committee for the last 6 years.  “Taste and Tunes” raises from $40,000 to $70,000 dollars a year to provide grants to local community organizations such as the Hispanic Center in Bethlehem and the Community Bike Works in Allentown. 
 
She also serves on the Membership Committee, the Dictionary Project and has been a member of the Auction Committee for 3 years.  
 
Internationally, Deb , along with Jill Long, was a Rotary non-medical volunteer in the Rotaplast Medical Mission to Pereira, Colombia in South America, in August 2010.  She was Medical Records Assistant responsible for the medical record keeping of the 90 children who received the free cleft lip/palate plastic surgery, plus the records of 50 more children who for medical reasons beyond the reach of the Rotaplast Mission were unable to receive this free humanitarian service.  Upon her return, Deb, along with Jill Long, made a moving presentation to our club members and secured the club’s annual donation to Rotaplast.
 
In addition, Deb is a member of the Rotary International Yachting Fellowship.  The objects of the Fellowship combine an acceptance of the principles of Rotary with a love of boats and the sea, rivers and inland waters, and use the shared interest of yachting and seamanship as an opportunity to encourage and foster the objectives of Rotary of international understanding, goodwill and peace.
 
Locally, Debbie serves on the Board of Directors of the Neighborhood Health Center and has served as a Veteran Mentor with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office and the Board of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation.
