Bob Smith has worked in higher education for over twenty years in various capacities as both an educator and administrator.  He currently serves as Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Valley Forge Military College, where he is also an instructor of social sciences and military history.  Bob holds a PhD in history from Lehigh University, and master degrees in education and history from Northwest Nazarene University and Villanova University.  He is the author of Manufacturing Independence: Industrial Innovation in the American Revolution and numerous articles on the American Revolution and history of technology.  He is currently working on a biography of Brigadier General Francis Nash, the namesake of Nashville, TN who died at the Battle of Germantown.   Bob is a former Fulbright Scholar and graduate of Leadership Lehigh Valley.  He is a lifelong member and volunteer in Scouts BSA, having served in many leadership and teaching positions.  He is a graduate of the Woodbadge program and is an Eagle Scout.  Bob lives in Hatfield, PA with wife of 22 years, Robin, and his two boys, Sam (13) and Henry (11).  He is an avid cyclist.
