After 2+ long years of COVID disruptions to lives/routines for both individuals and organizations, the Rotary Club of Bethlehem is bringing back one of its best practices—New Member Orientation! New Member Orientation has always been a wonderful way to meet fellow Rotarians and to learn more about how our club, and Rotary International, operate to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance goodwill and peace through our fellowship.
The same presenters (Past President George Mowrer, Vice President Lori Knerr, and former Secretary & Grant Writer Deb Geiger) who last conducted New Member Orientation in the Spring of 2019 will team up again to engage our new members in discussion and share information & experiences!
Current members: This is exciting news for you, in that our club is gaining new members with talents and connections to help us together better serve the needs of our community. Our club records indicate at least a dozen new members joined after the last session so we expect to have a robust group!
New members: We will reach out to each of you individually. However - in an effort to get this on your schedules as soon as possible, please sign up using the following Doodle Poll Link:
New Member Orientation is scheduled as follows:
Dates: Monday, September 19th & Tuesday, September 20th
Time: Assemble between 4:30 pm-5 pm. Interactive session lasts 60-90 minutes
Location: Central Moravian Church, CE Building, 40 West Church Street

Sep 24, 2022 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Lace up your sneakers and experience Bethlehem from the vantage point of our street neighbors. Rotary board member Deb Walter, City of Bethlehem Planning Director and Rotarian Darlene Heller, and Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering Executive Director Bob Rapp lead us from Sand Island to the Minsi Trail Bridge and on to Christ Church where we will grab a walking brown bag lunch. See and hear about the challenges of our street neighbors and learn about the plans the city has to meet their needs as we walk. We will meet at 11 am on Saturday, September 24, at Sand Island for a two-hour stroll that includes lunch. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Our lunch is offered at no cost. You may make a donation to cover your lunch which will be prepared and provided by BES volunteers. Contact Deb at debra.walter@desales.edu to RSVP or for more information. This BoardWalk, along with our homelessness book discussion on September 28, will prepare us to be excellent ambassadors for Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering at our Tastes and Tunes event on October 2. |

Upcoming “Board” Walk in Bethlehem’s Rose Garden Park, 651 8th Avenue, 8th Avenue & Union Boulevard Saturday, February 18 at 11:00 AM at the park entrance off of 8th Avenue Join Board members for a casual walk through Bethlehem’s Rose Garden Park. The walk will be lead by members of the nearby neighborhood group, the Mount Airy Neighborhood Association (MANA). They will provide information on the Park’s many veteran and war memorials located throughout the park area. MANA has adopted the Park over the last several years. Their historic research of the park includes, not only the memorials and monuments, but also the park itself and its development over time. The goal is to have the research included in a future nomination for designation on the National Register of Historic Places. The walk will also include information on recent park improvements, the summer farmer’s market and other events that occur on the Park throughout the year. Please join us! We can stroll to lunch afterward at Black Forest Deli, 745 W Union Blvd.
