Here are the details you need to know: The best place to park is the parking garage at 324 S. New Street, Bethlehem PA 18015. Then cross the street to the Greenway – to find a table full of clean—up supplies for Greenway at New Street. That’s where you’ll get supplies for your assignment. Dress comfortably and please wear your mask. If you believe you’ve been around anyone that may have or been exposed to COVID-19, or are feeling unwell please stay home. The Arts District will provide gloves, trash bags, water, soil, paint, paint brushes and tee shirts as a thank you. Please let me know your sizes before the clean up so I have a tee shirt for everyone! You’ll be working alone or if you came with a group, you’ll stay with them. Please let me know if you have any questions! The clean-up is March 27th from 9am – 12pm. You do not need to be there the entire time. Just come and check in and check out at the supply table with me. Thank you again so much & spread the word! I will take as many volunteers are we can get to spruce up the SouthSide for Spring! Please download and complete the Volunteer Waiver and bring it with you at the clean-up. Bill Rowe |

How to Fix the Skilled Trades Deficit.
Jul 07, 2021 12:00 PM
In October of 2019, officials from the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association honored LCTI plumbing instrructor Ken Midgett as the 2019 Plumbing Instructor of the Year during the organization’s annual conference at the Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The prestigious national award recognizes instructors who meet the highest standards as they provide training necessary to develop tomorrow’s workers in the plumbing field. Midgett, a licensed master plumber who spent 20-plus years running a prosperous business, has served as LCTI’s Plumbing & Heating program teacher since spring 2008. Under his leadership, program enrollment is booming and student performance is strong. The Coopersburg resident has been particularly successful in his efforts to recruit and mentor girls, who are nontraditional students for the male-dominated program. He will speak to our club about a major concern - the looming deficit in skilled tradespersons and will share with us his thoughts about how to fix it. |
