Sunday August 6, 2023

Hello fellow Rotarians!

LAST WEEK:

We had a great meeting last Wednesday that included guests, a vibrant speaker and a new weekly “Committee Spotlight”.

Courtesy of Ham Malek, our guest last week was Ali Almasi, Lehigh University graduate and owner/manager at Zaffrus, a Lehigh Valley company that offers top quality saffron products. Ali also offered to donate an auction item to our Tastes & Tunes event!

Courtesy of our new Program Chairperson, Darlene Heller, our speaker last week was Celina Dadario, Bethlehem Community Coordinator for Northside Alive.

Celine Dadario

Northside Alive, launched is 2018 between the City and the Community Action Development Corp. It is a community driven neighborhood revitalization effort comprised of 4 parts – Community Development & Neighborhood Branding, Economic Vitality, Housing and Safe & Vibrant Public Realm. Celina spoke about the plans to give new life to Friendship Park, formerly Tank Park. The new park plans relied heavily on input from the residents. She also spoke about the many resources offered, as well as volunteer opportunities. You can check out their website at www.northsidealive.org

Ham Malek started our meeting off with a “Committee Spotlight” from the Membership Committee. He spoke about experiences he has had at other Clubs, including a Membership Minute, review of the 4 Way Test and also taking pictures of not only our speakers, but our guests as well.

THIS WEEK:

Please remember our meeting on 8/9 will be at ArtsQuest behind the Visitor Center. Please register with Jack Worsley if you have not done so and invite a friend! Cost of lunch is $16 per person. This is always a great event. Thank you Jack for organizing it.

NEXT WEEK:

On August 16 we will have another exciting speaker, US Navy Rear Admiral Scott Pappano, a Bethlehem native.   Let's have a great turnout for this important visitor to the Lehigh Valley.

Lastly, Tastes & Tunes planning is in full swing. Please check out our website. Links are there and active for:
  • Purchasing tickets
  • Downloading a flyer/poster to print and post prominently at your places of business and places you visit reguarly.
  • Downloading the sponsor letter and form.  Please spread this information as widely as you can - sponsors are vital to the success of Tastes & Tunes.
Please remember to ask your friends, colleagues, employers and to leverage the rest of your network to get sponsorships, attendees and auction items. This is our one and only fundraiser and provides us the ability to do the work in the community that we are known for.

Yours in Rotary service,

President Lori Knerr
