Here is President Mike's weekly newsletter:

Wednesday's meeting was graced by the presence and presentation of Paula Fabon of Madrid, our Youth Exchange Student for the year. Paula gave the Rotarians a beautiful photo tour of Spain, followed by an engaging summary of her time here in Bethlehem as a junior at Liberty High School. Her enthusiasm and likeability underscored the many benefits of the Rotary Youth Exchange program and was a wonderful reminder that we are all part of the same global village. Paula was joined at Rotary by her parents, Javier and Eugenia, and her host families, George and Betsy Mowrer, and Cheryl Baker from Morning Star. Betsy introduced Paula to the Rotarians in attendance, and Cheryl led us all in singing the Spanish language version of Happy (17th) Birthday to her.  Also on hand for the occasion was AG Janet Kolepp.

Other News

The Bethlehem Rotary Club was one of four clubs recognized by the Community Bike Works at their twentieth anniversary celebration on Wednesday, March 16th.  Through a District grant, the Club helped purchase a van to move bikes and children around the Lehigh Valley. The Rotary logo is displayed prominently on the vehicle.

We are still looking for volunteers to staff the table and/or donate a children's book to the Cops 'n Kids Celebrate Reading Day on Saturday, April 23rd.  Sign up sheets will remain at the registration desk until the event. Please bring your book to a weekly meeting. See Shannon SIgafoos for more information about the program.

Ron Madison reminded us to start thinking about bringing prospective Rotarians to our night at the LV Iron Pigs in May. We have reserved the Dugout Suite for that night, and it is a great way to demonstrate the fun and fellowship among Rotarians. New and active members keep the Bethlehem Club among the largest and most vibrant in District 7430.

The speaker on Wednesday, March 30th will be Ron Madison (father), author of the "Ned" children's books. He will be introduced by  our Rotarian Ron Madison (son). We will also present recognition pins to several Paul Harris Fellows that day.

Until then, Have a Happy Easter weekend, and continue to be a gift to the community.

Yours in Rotary,

Mike McGovern, President

Bringing clean water to thousands in Ghana

More than 748 million people live without access to clean water and at least 3,000 children die each day from diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water. Rotary is working to change that. Members used a Rotary grant to drill more than 20 clean-water wells and to repair another 30 in villages across Ghana. For World Water Day,watch a video about the project.
