Happy New Year Rotarians!!!!

Believe it or not, we are already half way through the 2016-2017 Rotary year.  It was a busy 6 months that included many activities and projects, including:
  • Supporting the Phillies Strike Out Hunger
  • Hosting our District Governor, Linda Young, at our August 17 Club meeting
  • Sponsoring another successful Taste & Tunes event to benefit Second Harvest
  • Collecting children’s books to donate to Cops & Kids and St. Luke’s Healthy Kids, Bright Futures
  • Supporting the Purple Pinkie 5K Run/Fun Walk for Polio Plus
  • Enjoying a Thirsty Thursday fellowship event at Twisted Olive
  • Inducting 4 new Rotarians into our Club
  • Presenting Paul Harris Fellowships to Jane Pearson and George Mowrer
  • Presenting scholarships to 4 student artisans attending Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech (BAVTS)
  • Hosting 8 student shadows from Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech
  • Hosting our annual joint Club Thanksgiving Luncheon to benefit Polio Plus
  • Sponsoring 4 Rotarians who attended the Rotary Leadership Institute
  • Hosting a District Grant Training session at the Arts Academy Charter Middle School
  • Collecting food for New Bethany Ministries and the Hispanic Center
  • Ringing bells at Christkindlmarkt for the Salvation Army
  • Learning interesting facts about fellow Rotarians through ‘Who’s That Rotarian?’
  • Conducting a winter coat drive for children served by the Bethlehem Boys & Girls Club
  • Nominating and electing slate of officers for 2017-2018 Rotary Board
  • Purchasing and delivering dictionaries to third graders in the Bethlehem Area School District
What can I say except THANK YOU to all who participated in any of the service or fellowship activities listed!  Being engaged and actively involved enriches our Rotary experience.  Together, we are making a difference in our community and our world through ‘Service Above Self’ so bring on the New Year!

Yours in Rotary Service,

President

PS from your webmaster:  The lead story on our webpage features the slides from the December 21st "Passages" presentation honoring Bill Votral, Gordon Mowrer, and Bob Cohen who passed away during 2016, and whose lives graced our Club and its members in myriad ways.  Also honored were Bob and Madeline Brown, who have retired from membership, but not from serving others in their new home at Kirkland Village.  If you missed the meeting be sure to visit our website.  www.bethlehemparotary.org
