At our February 28th meeting, Past President Diane Donaher gave us a rundown of activities planned for the District Conference in Wyomissing on April 27th through April 29th. The Conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and features many dynamic speakers, as well as top notch entertainment. The theme of the speakers will be how to develop leadership skills, and will provide useful ideas for contributing to our club which are also applicable to business and family life. Saturday night’s program will feature Bill Haley Jr. and the Comets. Bill is a Rotarian, and people who hear the group all agree that they sound just like the original comets. Please consider attending the Conference. You can attend for one, two, or all three nights for a modest cost. Our program was a classification talk by Dee Dee Foran. Dee Dee discussed her southern roots, her working career, and why she initially joined Bethlehem Rotary. Dee Dee began her career with Sungard Systems, of Charlotte, NC, which was eventually purchased by and is now a part of SunGard International. While with SunGard she traveled throughout the country converting local banks to their first computer systems in the 1980’s. SunGard eventually developed what has now become the most popular Trust & Pension Administration system in the country. Her background made her very helpful to a small local Pension Administration firm, GF Pension Corp. Dee Dee is an adventurous traveler, and enjoys experiencing the diverse cultures of the places she visits. She was attracted to Rotary both as a way to contribute to our community and for its international service opportunities. After contributing to the growth of GF Pension Corp. for 21 years, she is looking forward to traveling more, enjoying family, and spending more time on community service in semi-retirement.

Next week’s speaker will be Kurt Landes, the General Manager of our Iron Pigs AAA baseball team.
