At our September 13th meeting, we met two BAVTs students who are in the shadow program, Kaianah Walker and Samuel Cadiz.

Since the meeting was a Club Assembly, Bob Smith and I gave the members an update on Tastes & Tunes. Our event will have 9 musical venues, including a performance by the Morganaires, who will perform for the first time since the loss of our beloved Bob Cohen.

There will also be delicious food from 10 area restaurants, complimentary craft beer, wine, and soft drinks. Both the Silent and Live Auctions will offer some useful and unique items.

As always, there is a core group of dedicated Rotarians whose hard work has made Tastes & Tunes possible, please come out to support the event.

The 50/50 drawing was the second week of our return to the “Queen of Hearts” style. Al Philpotts had the winning ticket, but didn’t pull the Queen of Hearts. There are 50 cards left in the deck, and next week’s pot will start at $48. Come and try your luck!

Rotary President-elect Sam F. Owori dies

Sam F. Owori, Rotary International president-elect, died unexpectedly Thursday as a result of post-operative complications from a planned surgery. Sam was a member of the Rotary Club of Kampala, Uganda, for 38 years. "Please remember Sam as the outstanding, hard-working Rotarian he was," said Rotary International President Ian Riseley. "In this difficult time, I ask you to keep his wife, the Owori family, and Sam's millions of friends around the world in your thoughts."
